I studied contemporary poetry with Michael Schmidt in Manchester, and it has never lost its magic for me. The best way to learn how to write better poems is to read plenty of them, and one of my favourite jobs is editing the annual Forward Book of Poetry.

Scott of the Riviera was shortlisted by Don Paterson for the 2007 Bridport Prize. I keep meaning to enter more competitions.
